Oppo Find X9 Ultra: “Unprecedented power” confirmed by the brand

Oppo is no longer hiding its ambitions for its next ultra-premium model. With the Find X9 and X9 Pro already well under way, it is the Find X9 Ultra that is stealing the spotlight. Zhou Yibao, who heads up the Find line-up at Oppo, has officially confirmed the project and its ambition with a bold promise: this smartphone will be “powerful like never before”.

That short remark, dropped in reply to an impatient follower, was enough to set the internet alight — and it lines up perfectly with the flood of leaks doing the rounds over the past few days.

A camera monster: heading for dual 200 MP?

If reports from IT Home and the latest leaks are anything to go by, the Find X9 Ultra is set to redefine mobile photography with a hardware configuration we have never seen before:

  • Main sensor: it is said to move up to 200 megapixels (roughly 1/1.12-inch). That marks a change of philosophy compared with the 1-inch sensor of the previous generation, betting here on ultra-high resolution instead.
  • Mid-range telephoto: this one is tipped to make the jump to 200 megapixels as well (1/1.3-inch), replacing the 50 MP sensor of the X8 Ultra.
  • Super-telephoto and ultra-wide: two further 50-megapixel sensors (one of them a periscope for long-range zoom) plus a multispectral sensor are reported to round out the set.

In short, Oppo appears to be aiming for “unprecedented” cropping ability and detail on its main focal lengths.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and a giant battery

To live up to that “unprecedented power” tagline, the Find X9 Ultra is expected to pack the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. That choice would set it clearly apart from the X9 and X9 Pro, which generally rely on MediaTek Dimensity chips.

The other headline feature is said to be battery life. Leaks describe an engineering prototype fitted with a battery north of 7,000 mAh. Despite that enormous capacity, Fast Charging reportedly holds its own, with 100W wired and 50W wireless.

Display and finish

Reports point to a large flat 2K OLED panel protected by 2.5D glass, breaking once and for all with the curved screens of previous generations. The whole package is said to be IP68/IP69 certified and to carry an ultrasonic fingerprint reader along with an upgraded haptic motor.

Conclusion

With Zhou Yibao’s official confirmation, there is no longer any room for doubt: the Find X9 Ultra is on its way and it is aiming for the very top. By potentially combining two 200-megapixel sensors, the most powerful chip on the market and a record 7,000 mAh battery, Oppo looks determined to deliver on its promise of “unprecedented” power. More details should surface in the coming weeks ahead of an official launch. PhoneDroid stocks phones from the Oppo brand, as well as a screen protector matched to the curvature of the display.
