\ud83d\udccc Update, 14 September 2026 \u2014<\/strong> Honor has opened pre-orders and the range is taking shape: three models, the Magic 9, the Magic 9 Pro Max<\/a> and a Magic 9 Super Edition<\/strong> expected to be sold in China only. The Magic 9 Pro expected over the summer is not on the list. The Magic 9 will come in four colours<\/strong> \u2014 yellow, olive green, white and black \u2014 and four configurations, from 12 GB + 256 GB<\/strong> to 16 GB + 1 TB<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The high-end smartphone market is about to welcome one of the most anticipated refreshes of autumn 2026. While the general trend keeps pushing towards giant diagonals and imposing bodies, Honor<\/a> is finishing off its next flagship series with a proposition that runs against the grain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The date is now official: Li Jian, CEO of Honor, has confirmed that the Magic 9 range will be unveiled on 28 September 2026 in Beijing. With blind pre-orders already open in China, details shared by well-regarded tipsters such as Digital Chat Station and the Honor Club community allow a full technical portrait of the entry model: the Honor Magic 9<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Honor Magic 9: a compact 6.36-inch body that gives nothing up on battery<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In a mobile landscape where flagships almost systematically clear 6.8 inches, the Honor Magic 9 opts for a notably manageable size. Matching leaks describe a flat 6.36-inch display (one isolated source mentioned 6.31 inches, and a 14 September report says 6.37 inches), wrapped in profiled 2.5D glass with very thin symmetrical bezels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The real engineering feat lies in what has been packed inside: despite contained dimensions, a weight of 198 grams<\/strong> and a controlled thickness of just 8.1 mm<\/strong>, the handset would carry a colossal 8,000 mAh battery<\/strong>. That achievement rests on the third generation<\/strong> of the silicon-carbon cells Honor calls \u00ab\u00a0Qinghai Lake\u00a0\u00bb. The technology sharply increases energy density without thickening the chassis, delivering two full days of endurance in a format you can still work with one hand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the power side, the device would support 120 W wired<\/strong> fast charging (some certifications having recorded 90 W or 100 W tiers depending on the protocol) along with 50 W wireless<\/strong> charging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The construction is coming into focus. The Magic 9 is said to use a cold-carved unibody glass<\/strong> body: shell and frame are drawn from a single piece, shaped without heat, which avoids the distortion thermoforming sometimes leaves along the edges. And its screen bezels would be thinner still than the Pro Max\u2019s 0.98 mm<\/strong> \u2014 on a 6.36-inch device, every tenth of a millimetre reclaimed counts for more than it does on a large panel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two trade-offs are a reminder that the Magic 9 remains the entry model. It would go without the Black Diamond<\/strong> panel reserved for the Pro Max, and carry only one 3D facial recognition sensor<\/strong> where its bigger sibling lines up two. Nothing that changes day-to-day use, but these are the lines along which the hierarchy is drawn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

OLED LTPO display and a cinema partnership with ARRI<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

On the display side, the OLED panel would offer 1.5K resolution paired with LTPO technology to adjust the refresh rate dynamically. To preserve visual comfort during night-time or extended sessions, the screen would carry very high-frequency PWM dimming, removing flicker at low brightness to reduce eye strain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The rear design breaks with the previous generation by adopting an imposing circular camera island shifted into the top left corner<\/strong>, flanked by a secondary two-lens module on its right. The back would be dressed in AG glass<\/strong> \u2014 frosted, anti-reflective glass, pleasant to the touch and immune to fingerprints \u2014 in four colours, according to Honor\u2019s pre-order page: yellow<\/strong>, olive green<\/strong>, white<\/strong> and black<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The camera island proudly carries the ARRI<\/strong> logo, the legendary German cinema camera maker. This official partnership goes well beyond a software filter: it brings cinema-grade colour tuning, a dedicated LogC mode and a professional video workflow able to record 4K sequences at 120 frames per second in native Log with extended dynamic range.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and MagicOS built around AI agents<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Under the hood, the Honor Magic 9 would stay on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5<\/strong> \u2014 last year\u2019s chip, the one already running the Magic 8 Pro \u2014 while the Pro Max would move to the next generation, built on 2 nm by TSMC<\/a>. The platform remains first-rate: this is a segmentation choice, not a weakness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Correction, 11 September 2026.<\/strong> We first gave the Gen 6 to the standard model. Two separate tipsters say otherwise, more than three months apart: Digital Chat Station in May, Smart Pikachu on 11 September, both on the Gen 5<\/strong> for the base Magic 9. Only one outlet attributes the Gen 6 to both phones, without distinguishing them. That is exactly the chip running the Honor Magic 8 Pro<\/a> today.
