With its official Chinese unveiling set for 14 July, Xiaomi has just confirmed the spec sheet of its upcoming Redmi Note 17 Pro. The brand clearly intends to shake up the mid-range with a device built around extreme hardware durability and a battery life quite simply never seen before in this segment.
A monumental 9,000 mAh of battery life
The centrepiece of this Redmi Note 17 Pro is without question its Xiaomi Jinshajiang battery, with a colossal capacity of 9 000 mAh. Rated five stars by TÜV SÜD, it comes paired with 67W wired Fast Charging and a 22.5W wired reverse charging function that turns the phone into a genuine power bank for your accessories.
To reassure users worried about chemical degradation, the manufacturer is launching an unprecedented 5-year warranty programme:
- Years 1 to 4: Free battery replacement if its health drops below the 80% mark.
- Fifth year: Should capacity fall below 80%, Redmi commits to swapping the cell for an even larger 10 000 mAh unit.
A 3,500-nit screen and all-round armour
The phone doesn’t rely on its battery alone to impress. It sports a flat OLED panel at 1.5K resolution capable of pushing a peak brightness of 3 500 nits in direct sunlight, while also dimming all the way down to just 1 nit in the dark to spare your eyes.
Chassis toughness reaches a historic milestone of its own:
- Physical protection: Covered in Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2, the handset survived official drop tests onto marble from 3 metres up, along with repeated impacts from blunt objects (footballs, tools and even durians).
- Total water resistance: The Note 17 Pro stacks up IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K certifications (resistance to high-pressure jets and hot water). It is also certified by TÜV SÜD to withstand immersion at 2 metres deep for 72 hours.
A configuration built for longevity
Under the bonnet, the device will run on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 series processor, a choice geared towards power efficiency in order to make the most of the chassis’s gigantic battery life. On the multimedia side, dual stereo speakers round out the package.
