Realme 16 Pro and 16 Pro+: Official Launch with 144Hz Displays and 7000 mAh Batteries

Realme has officially launched its new Realme 16 Pro series in India today. The brand is expanding its line-up in the premium mid-range segment with two models: the Realme 16 Pro and the Realme 16 Pro+.

This new generation is built on three major pillars: exceptionally smooth displays, record-breaking battery life and a versatile camera system.

Displays: Flat or Curved, but Always 144Hz

Both models get AMOLED panels with a very high 144Hz refresh rate, capable of displaying 1.07 billion colours.

  • Realme 16 Pro: It goes for a flat 6.78-inch screen, with brightness reaching up to 1,800 nits.
  • Realme 16 Pro+: It opts instead for a curved 6.8-inch screen. Its peak brightness is impressive, theoretically hitting 6,500 nits.

Performance and Battery Life: Two Very Different Chips

Under the bonnet, the two siblings take different routes:

  • The Pro is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Max.
  • The Pro+ moves upmarket with the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 platform.

Both chips are built on a 4nm process. On the memory side, there is up to 12 GB of LPDDR5x RAM (with virtual expansion) and up to 512 GB of UFS 3.1 storage on the Plus model.

The trump card of this series remains battery life. Realme has managed to fit a massive 7,000 mAh battery into both devices. Both also support 80W fast charging over USB-C.

Camera: the Periscope Is Reserved for the “Plus”

The camera package is solid, with a 200-megapixel main sensor (Samsung HP5) with optical stabilisation (OIS) on both models.

  • The Pro+ bonus: It sets itself apart with an extra 50 MP periscope telephoto lens offering 3.5x optical zoom.
  • Both models share an 8 MP ultra-wide and an excellent 50 MP selfie camera that can shoot in 4K.

Software and Durability

The series ships with Android 16 and the Realme UI 7 interface. The brand promises decent software support with 3 years of Android updates and 4 years of security patches. The phones are rugged too, carrying IP66, IP68 and IP69 ratings for water and dust resistance.

Price and Availability (India)

Both phones are available right now in India through Flipkart and the official website.

  • Realme 16 Pro (Pebble Grey, Orchid Purple, Master Gold):
    • Starting price (8+128GB): Rs 31,999 (approx. €355).
    • With launch offers, the effective price drops to around Rs 28,999 (approx. €320).
  • Realme 16 Pro+ (Pebble Grey, Camellia Pink, Master Gold):
    • Starting price (8+256GB): Rs 41,999 (approx. €465).
    • With the offers, the effective price starts at Rs 35,999 (approx. €400).

Conclusion

With this 16 Pro series, Realme is hitting hard. Putting a 7,000 mAh battery in a “Pro” form factor is a huge selling point. The addition of a periscope telephoto lens on the Plus model and the use of the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 make it a highly competitive option against pricier flagships. At PhoneDroid you will find the Realme range, as well as the original 80W charger.
