Realme has just fired the opening shot for its next smartphone line-up in India. After skipping the “Pro+” model with the previous generation (the 15 series), the brand has officially confirmed its return through a dedicated microsite. And the least we can say is that this Realme 16 Pro+ is shaping up to be a monster of battery life and performance.

A mystery chip that outclasses the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4

The official microsite does more than confirm that the Realme 16 Pro+ exists: it drops a serious hint about its performance. The phone will run a Snapdragon chip whose name has yet to be revealed, but Realme states it will be “more powerful than the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4”.

As a reminder, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 is already a benchmark in the mid-range. The announcement therefore suggests Realme could go for an “s” variant (something like a 7s Gen 4), or perhaps an underclocked 8 series chip to deliver near-flagship performance.

Battery life: impressive numbers on the table

While the exact battery capacity is not yet set in stone on the official site, the rumours are persistent: talk is of a huge 7,000 mAh battery with 80W fast charging.

What is official, on the other hand, are the endurance figures shared by Realme. The 16 Pro+ promises:

  • 9.3 hours of continuous gaming.
  • 20.8 hours of scrolling on Instagram.
  • Up to 21 hours of video playback on YouTube.
  • Up to 125 hours of music on Spotify.

Leaked spec sheet: 144Hz screen and 200MP sensor

Alongside the official teasing, leaks let us build a full picture of the beast. The Realme 16 Pro+ is said to feature a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution and a very high refresh rate of 144Hz.

On the camera side, the Pro+ model is tipped to mark the long-awaited return of the periscope telephoto lens, an asset the previous generation sorely lacked. It is reportedly paired with a 200-megapixel main sensor and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide. Up front, a 50MP camera is said to handle selfies.

Imminent launch and extended software support

The series, which will also include a standard Realme 16 Pro (without the periscope), will ship with Realme UI 7 based on Android 16. The brand promises solid software support with 3 years of OS updates and 4 years of security patches.

According to the latest rumours, the official launch in India could take place as early as 6 January 2026. The expected colours are Master Grey, Master Gold and Camellia Pink, with configurations going up to 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage.

Conclusion

Realme seems to have listened to its community. The return of the Pro+ model with a periscope zoom, combined with a seriously powerful chip and battery life that looks set to break records, shows the brand wants to reclaim its crown in the “super mid-range” segment. All that is left to discover is the exact name of that mystery processor. We stock phones from the Realme range, along with our Realme cases to go with them.
