Honor Magic 8 Pro Air: Featherweight 6.3 mm Body With a Huge Battery

Honor has officially started teasing a new member of its flagship family: the Honor Magic 8 Pro Air. This model joins the Magic 8 and 8 Pro released in October 2025, but with a very clear positioning: it is a compact device that refuses to give up on power.

The brand has yet to reveal every detail, but Chinese tech bloggers have already leaked most of the spec sheet.

An ultra-thin, ultra-light design

The most striking feature of this “Pro Air” is undoubtedly its footprint. Leaks point to a record thickness of just 6.3 mm and a featherweight of around 158 grams.

Despite that slim profile, Honor is said to have made no compromise on the screen. The phone is tipped to feature a flat 6.3-inch OLED panel with 1.5K resolution. It is the ideal format for anyone who finds today’s flagships too bulky.

Power and battery life: the real tour de force

Under the hood, the phone is reportedly powered by the Dimensity 9500k chip. But the genuine technical feat lies in the battery.

Squeezing a 5,500 mAh battery into a 6.3 mm chassis is simply stunning. It is said to come with 90W wired fast charging. The only downside of chasing that thinness: wireless charging will probably be missing.

Camera and launch

While the exact camera specs remain unclear, reports confirm the presence of a telephoto lens. Given the track record of the Magic line-up, photo quality should be there.

The Honor Magic 8 Pro Air is expected to be announced just before Chinese New Year (17 February), most likely alongside the ultra-premium Honor Magic 8 RSR edition. It will be available in black, white, purple and orange.

Conclusion

The Honor Magic 8 Pro Air is shaping up to be a real oddity. Fitting 5,500 mAh into 158 grams is an engineering feat that could win over plenty of users tired of 200-gram-plus “bricks”. It remains to be seen whether this model will ever leave China. At PhoneDroid, you will find the various Honor models and Honor SuperCharge chargers.
